Salmernes Bog 89,9

Gud er trofast; han vil ikke tillade, at I fristes over evne, men vil sammen med fristelsen også skabe udvej, så I ikke bukker under.

1. Korinterne 10,13

6 Himlen priser dit under, Herre,
din trofasthed i de helliges forsamling.
7 For hvem i skyen står mål med Herren,
hvem blandt gudssønnerne er Herrens lige?
8 Gud vækker rædsel i de helliges kreds,
han er stor og frygtindgydende for alle, der omgiver ham.
9 Herre, Hærskarers Gud, hvem er som du?
Stærk er Herren. Din trofasthed omgiver dig.
10 Du hersker over det hovmodige hav,
du dæmper dets brusende bølger.
11 Du knuste Rahab, han lå dræbt,
du splittede dine fjender med din stærke arm.
12 Himlen tilhører dig, jorden tilhører dig,
du grundlagde jorden med alt, hvad den rummer.

10 Giv heller ikke ondt af jer, sådan som nogle af dem gjorde det, og de blev dræbt af dødsenglen.
11 Alt dette skete med dem, for at de skulle være advarende eksempler, og det blev skrevet for at vejlede os, til hvem tidernes ende er nået.
12 Derfor skal den, som tror, at han står, se til, at han ikke falder.
13 De fristelser, der har mødt jer, er kun menneskelige. Og Gud er trofast; han vil ikke tillade, at I fristes over evne, men vil sammen med fristelsen også skabe udvej, så I ikke bukker under.
14 Hold jer derfor fra afgudsdyrkelse, mine kære!
15 Jeg taler til jer som forstandige mennesker. Døm selv om det, jeg siger.
16 Velsignelsens bæger, som vi velsigner, er det ikke fællesskab med Kristi blod? Brødet, som vi bryder, er det ikke fællesskab med Kristi legeme?

13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
14 Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.
15 I speak as to sensible people; judge for yourselves what I say.
16 The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ?
