An Bíobla Naofa 1981

Dúirt Abrám más ea le Lót: Ná bíodh aon aighneas idir m’aoirí-sé agus d’aoirí-sé, mar is bráithre sinn.

Geineasas 13:8

Mar a mbíonn éad agus uaillmhian dhoicheallach, bíonn corrthónacht agus gach sort drochbhirt.

Séamas 3:16

Geineasas 13 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

5 Agus Lót a bhí ag taisteal fara Abrám, bhí tréada agus eallach agus bothanna leis féin aige
6 i dtreo nár fhéad an talamh iad araon le chéile a chothú mar bhí an iomad maoine acu chun cónaí le chéile.
7 Tharla aighneas dá bhrí sin idir aoirí thréad Abrám agus aoirí thréad Lót (bhí na Canánaigh agus na Pirizigh ina gcónaí sa tír an uair sin).
8 Dúirt Abrám más ea le Lót: “Ná bíodh aon aighneas idir m’aoirí-sé agus d’aoirí-sé, mar is bráithre sinn.
9 Má ghabhann tusa deiseal, rachadsa tuathal; má ghabhann tusa tuathal rachadsa deiseal.”
10 D’ardaigh Lót a shúile agus chonaic go raibh gleann na hIordáine arna uisciú go fónta i ngach treo baill chomh fada le Zoar agus é amhail gairdín an Tiarna nó tír na hÉigipte – ba sular scrios an Tiarna Sodom agus Gomorá é sin.
11 Roghnaigh Lót gleann na hIordáine dó féin; ghluais Lót soir agus scaradar le chéile ar an gcuma sin.

Séamas 3 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

13 Cé tá eagnaí agus tuisceanach in bhur measc? Taispeánadh sé a dhea-oibreacha in umhlaíocht na heagna lena iompar fónta.
14 Ach má tá éad searbh oraibh agus uaillmhian doicheallach in bhur gcroí, ná bígí ag maíomh ná ag bréagnú na fírinne.
15 Ní anuas ó lastuas a thagann an sórt sin eagna, ach tá sí talmhaí, neamhspioradálta, agus diabhlaí.
16 Mar a mbíonn éad agus uaillmhian dhoicheallach, bíonn corrthónacht agus gach sort drochbhirt.
17 Ach an eagna ó lastuas tá sí ar dtús íon, ansin síochánta, cineálta, sochomhairlithe, lán de thrócaire agus de dhea-thorthaí, gan leathchuma, gan cur i gcéill.
18 Síolann lucht déanta na síochána an síol a thabharfaidh fómhar na fíréantachta, go síochánta.

English Standard Version

Abram said to Lot, Let there be no strife between you and me, and between your herdsmen and my herdsmen, for we are kinsmen.

Genesis 13:8

Where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice.

James 3:16

Geineasas 13 (English Standard Version)

5 And Lot, who went with Abram, also had flocks and herds and tents,
6 so that the land could not support both of them dwelling together; for their possessions were so great that they could not dwell together,
7 and there was strife between the herdsmen of Abram's livestock and the herdsmen of Lot's livestock. At that time the Canaanites and the Perizzites were dwelling in the land.
8 Then Abram said to Lot, “Let there be no strife between you and me, and between your herdsmen and my herdsmen, for we are kinsmen.
9 Is not the whole land before you? Separate yourself from me. If you take the left hand, then I will go to the right, or if you take the right hand, then I will go to the left.”
10 And Lot lifted up his eyes and saw that the Jordan Valley was well watered everywhere like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, in the direction of Zoar. (This was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.)
11 So Lot chose for himself all the Jordan Valley, and Lot journeyed east. Thus they separated from each other.

Séamas 3 (English Standard Version)

13 Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom.
14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth.
15 This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.
16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice.
17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.
18 And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
