An Bíobla Naofa 1981

Ná bíodh eagla ort, a Abrám. Is mé do sciath; beidh luach saothair an-mhór agat.

Geineasas 15:1

Bhí mise á rá liom féin: Tá mo shaothar in aisce agam, tá mo neart caite agam gan éifeacht. Ach bhí mo cheart le fáil agam i bhfochair mo Thiarna, agus mo chúiteamh i bhfochair mo Dhé.

Íseáia 49:4

Geineasas 15 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

1 Tamall tar éis na nithe sin tháinig briathar an Tiarna chun Abrám i bhfís á rá: “Ná bíodh eagla ort, a Abrám. Is mé do sciath; beidh luach saothair an-mhór agat.”
2 “A Thiarna Dia liom,” arsa Abrám, “cad a thabharfaidh tú dom? Táim fós gan chlann …
3 Féach,” arsa Abrám ansin, “níor thug tú aon sliocht orm i dtreo go mbeidh daor a rugadh i mo theach féin ina oidhre orm.”
4 Agus féach! tháinig briathar an Tiarna chuige gan mhoill: “Ní hé an fear seo a bheidh ina oidhre ort. Beidh mac a ghinfear ó do leasracha féin ina oidhre ort.”

Íseáia 49 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

1 A insí na farraige, éistigí liomsa;
tugaigí aire, a chiníocha i gcéin!
Ghairm an Tiarna mé sa bhroinn dom,
agus mé i gcoim mo mháthar luaigh sé m’ainm.
2 Rinne sé claíomh faobhrach de mo bhéal,
chuir sé i bhfolach mé faoi scáth a láimhe.
Saighead líofa a rinne sé díom,
agus leag sé thart mé ina bholgán saighead.
3 Dúirt sé liom: “Is tú mo ghiolla Iosrael
trína saothróidh mé glóir dom féin.”
4 Agus bhí mise á rá liom féin: “Tá mo shaothar in aisce agam,
tá mo neart caite agam gan éifeacht.”
Ach bhí mo cheart le fáil agam i bhfochair mo Thiarna,
agus mo chúiteamh i bhfochair mo Dhé.
5 Bhí maise orm i súile an Tiarna,
ba é mo Dhia mo neart.
Agus anois tá an Tiarna tar éis labhairt,
an té a dhealbhaigh mé ón mbroinn i leith i mo ghiolla dó,
le go mbailínn Iacób ar ais chuige,
le go gcruinnínn Iosrael le chéile dó:
6 “Is fánach an mhaise duit a bheith i do ghiolla agam
chun treibheanna Iacóib amháin a thabhairt chucu féin,
chun ar slánaíodh d’Iosrael a thabhairt ar ais.
Ceapfaidh mé thú i do sholas do na ciníocha,
chun go dté mo shlánú go críocha na cruinne.”
7 Is amhlaidh seo a deir an Tiarna,
fuascailteoir agus Neach Naofa Iosrael,
leis an té atá ina ábhar tarcaisne agus gráin ag na ciníocha air,
le sclábh na dtíoránach:
Éireoidh ríthe ina seasamh ach súil a leagan ort,
rachaidh prionsaí ar a mbéal fúthu,
de dheasca an Tiarna agus a dhílseachta,
Neach Naofa Iosrael a thogh thú.

Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.

Genesis 15:1

But I said, “I have labored in vain; I have spent my strength for nothing and vanity; yet surely my right is with the Lord, and my recompense with my God.”

Isaiah 49:4

Geineasas 15 (English Standard Version)

1 After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: “Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.”
2 But Abram said, “O Lord God, what will you give me, for I continue childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?”
3 And Abram said, “Behold, you have given me no offspring, and a member of my household will be my heir.”
4 And behold, the word of the Lord came to him: “This man shall not be your heir; your very own son shall be your heir.”

Íseáia 49 (English Standard Version)

1 Listen to me, O coastlands,
and give attention, you peoples from afar.
The Lord called me from the womb,
from the body of my mother he named my name.
2 He made my mouth like a sharp sword;
in the shadow of his hand he hid me;
he made me a polished arrow;
in his quiver he hid me away.
3 And he said to me, “You are my servant,
Israel, in whom I will be glorified.”
4 But I said, “I have labored in vain;
I have spent my strength for nothing and vanity;
yet surely my right is with the Lord,
and my recompense with my God.”
5 And now the Lord says,
he who formed me from the womb to be his servant,
to bring Jacob back to him;
and that Israel might be gathered to him—
for I am honored in the eyes of the Lord,
and my God has become my strength—
6 he says:
“It is too light a thing that you should be my servant
to raise up the tribes of Jacob
and to bring back the preserved of Israel;
I will make you as a light for the nations,
that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth.”
7 Thus says the Lord,
the Redeemer of Israel and his Holy One,
to one deeply despised, abhorred by the nation,
the servant of rulers:
“Kings shall see and arise;
princes, and they shall prostrate themselves;
because of the Lord, who is faithful,
the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.”
